2005 GAA Annual Meeting Update

from our new GAA President, Pat Madison

Hello Everyone:

The Annual Meeting of the GAA was held Saturday, October 22, in  Macon.  Eight of the sixteen NAA registered clubs in Georgia were represented.  I want to thank everyone who made the trip and gave up moist of their Saturday for the GAA.  We got a lot done and I was especially pleased to see several of our newest clubs represented.

There were a number of items covered on the agenda, and I will summarize each one briefly.

  1. Elections:  There were 69 ballots cast for the slate of Officers, excluding the Treasurer which was appointed under the old By-Laws.  Once the new By-Laws were passed at the Annual Meeting the Treasurer was then elected under the new rules by the Board of Directors in attendance.   The Secretary was appointed by the President under the new By-Laws .  The new GAA officers are:

President – Pat Madison

Vice President – Rhonda Miller

Secretary – Mechell Pruitte

Treasurer – Jake Veit

JOAD Director – Richard Yost

Tournament Director – Kenny Compton

2.      By-Laws:  With some minor changes the new By-Laws were approved making the GAA more of a Board and Committee driven organization.  As soon as the changes have been updated we will forward you a copy and publish it on the website.  We will also be getting them to an attorney to complete the 502 (c) 3 non-profit incorporation.

  1. Standing Committees:  Under the new By-Laws the following Standing Committees were established, and the Chairs selected by the President.

JOAD/Club Development Committee – Chair; Richard Yost

Tournament Committee – Chair; Kenny Compton

Elite Archer Committee – Chair; Jim White

Development Committee – Chair; Open

Communications Committee – Chair; Bill Rhodes

4.      Tournament Schedule:  We’ve got a great tournament season scheduled and will get that published in the near future.  It should give everyone plenty of opportunities to shoot.

One more note before I close.  Under the new By-Laws each current NAA club with three individual NAA members in Georgia has a seat and a vote on the GAA Board, provided they notify the GAA Secretary of their desire to be represented on Board and who their representative will be.  So each club, including those at the Annual Meeting need to get that information to Mechell Pruitte in order to have standing on the Board and be able to vote.

Again, thanks to those who were at the meeting.  To the rest of the clubs I hope to see you soon.  The more folks we can get involved the more we can do to promote archery in Georgia.

Regards

Pat Madison,

GAA President
